Remus paced the floor between the bookshelves of the library. Extra studying never hurt anyone, unless you were his friends. James and Sirius honestly didn't care, and Remus didn't like to push Peter too hard for fear that his brain would be overworked and would explode.
He picked out a promising book and took it back to his table - the messiest and also the fullest.
The library was quite empty, now, and it was almost silent. Yes, libraries are meant to be silent, but there's normally the sound of ruffling pages of the scratching of quills. This time, nothing.
Remus flipped the hard cover of the book open and began to read the prologue.
It took a while for even his brain to absorb what it was trying to say, but he eventually processed it and translated it onto the parchment. He was please with his work and looked up at the window for the first time and ever so many hours. It was pitch black outside, but that didn't give any clue as to what time it was, so he just sat there, scribbling bits of information down on his piece of parchment, writing it in as plain English as he could for, no doubt, Sirius and James would want to copy it later.

((Hope you don't mind!))
Artemis crept into the library, bookbag slung over her shoulder. She couldn't believe that she had left her assignment for so long, not that it was a hard one, it was just time consuming. And Artemis wasn't a huge fan of homework, but she usually managed to get the assignments done shortly after getting them, not leaving them for the night before.
So needless to say, the second year was panicing, slightly... scratch that - a lot! She didn't know if she'd be able to finish the work before getting caught, as curfew was nearly upon her, and she knew that she'd never get it finished in the Common Room or her dorm. Some people just didn't know how to shut up.
She started down one of the book aisles, glad that there was still light in the library, though it was dimmer in the aisles. She grabbed a book that looked like it held the appropriate DADA information. She opened the book up to glance at the table of contents, when a shreik sounded around the silent library. Artemis slammed the book shut, feeling heat rise to her cheeks. Because that was just wonderfully stealthy. I'm surprised no one's appeared yet to tell me off to bed!
She put the book on the shelf and sat down on the ground, still looking at the books, but also trying to should any teachers (or more importantly Filch) come looking for the maker of the noise.

(Of course I don't. I would've said if it was a closed thread [
The peacefulness of the library was shattered by a very loud, and very irritating, shriek. Great, another novice picked out the wrong book. Remus was always crabby when he was tired. He stifled a yawn and resumed combing the book for information. His eyes felt strained after reading for so long, especially in the dim light of the library, but he pressed on; he would deal with the consequences of damaging his eyes when he was older. He mused over the idea of needing glasses, and the complications it would cause on a monthly basis. Would they have to make special wolfie glasses for him? He smirked at the idea of a werewolf with glasses, running through a forest - what a silly idea.
Remus mentally slapped himself. He was allowing himself to be distracted. He tried to focus, once again, on the text in front of him, but it might as well have been written in a language not of this world. He wasn't understanding anything he wrote down, it was merely going in through his eyes and traveling straight to the quill in his right hand, completely missing his brain altogether. He sighed and gave himself a break, it was the sleep deprivation that was doing this, but he still insisted that it was necessary. He needed the perfect grades to live up to the expectations of his teachers. He was trying to prove that the people you associate with have no effect on your education. Really, he was saving James and Sirius as well, so they didn't get into trouble for distracting him. [Agent:2]

((Just wanted to make sure ^_~))
Artemis stayes looking at the books that were nearer the ground level for a few minutes. She really really didn't want detention, or whatever it was that people who got in trouble got. She'd leave that to those boys. The ones that were always losing their House points. Not that she blamed them, it was fairly funny usually, the pranks, though sometimes they got way out of hand.
When she heard nothing, aside from the scratching of a quill, she stood slowly. She looked around, with a sigh. All that noise and she had yet to find a book with what she wanted in it. Hesitantly she walked over to the end of one the books shelves, to see where the quill noises were coming from.
She was a bit surprised to see it was one of the Marauders. She believed that his name was Remus. From what she had heard, he was the nicest of them and the calmest, but she'd never seen this first hand. Still hesitant and slightly shy, the second year walked over to the table that was full of books and parchment.
"Um..." She paused, she hated speaking to people she didn't know, she always felt so self concious, "Do you know where I can find any information on Occamies?"

There was no more sound, so Remus guessed that the kid had left. He sighed and picked up the quill and began scratching into the parchment again. The studying was boring him to death, literally. A yawn escaped his lips as he put down his quill again, for the last time. He placed the quill next to his book and put the parchment he'd been using in the book to mark his page. Yes, he was finally going to bed.
Remus had just reached for his bag when he heard a voice. "Um..." He paused and looked up. A pretty girl, whose name Remus didn't know, was looking at him nervously. "Do you know where I can find any information on Occamies?" Remus looked at her for a moment while he tried to remember. She was younger than him, but in the same house. He smiled to try and ease her nervousness and then spoke. "Fourth aisle from the exit, under Defence Against The Dark Arts." He smiled at her again, then started pulling the pile of books and parchment towards him. This was no way going to fit in his bag. He sighed a defeated sigh and started stuffing everything into the small space. [Agent:2]

Artemis shifted slightly uneasily as Remus looked her over, feeling even more self concious. It was all that she could do to not smooth out her uniform. When he smiled, though she realized that he probably wasn't going to make any rude comments, something that had happened when she'd asked the taller black haired one, the one that everyone seemed to fawn over, the Black, a simple question.
Seeing as his smile had calmed her down enough to not want to fidget, she looked the Marauder over. He was pale, paler than most that walked around the school and were living. Though his eyes sort of made up for the paleness, either that or they made the paleness fine, they were a warm greeny-brown. Realizing that she was staring she looked down, a faint blush rising to her cheeks, just as he gave her directions to where she would find the book she needed.
She nodded, "Thanks. I'm Artemis, by the way." She gave him another smile and started off towards the aisle he'd mentioned, when she stopped and looked back at Remus. "Uh, do you know how soon it is to curfew?" Worry tinted her tone, she didn't know how long she had to find the book and get back to the Gryffindor Common Room. Or if she'd be forced to move in the shadows on her way back to the common room, praying that she wouldn't meet any ghosts or teachers, though more importantly that she didn't meet Peeves.

Remus noticed the girl staring at him, taking his features in? This time it was his turn to be self conscious. He fidgeted slightly under her gaze, but she soon realized she was staring and looked away.
The girl thanked him at the same time as she introduced himself. "Your welcome, Artemis, I'm Remus." He said politely. As soon as he'd spoken, she turned and walked to the aisle he'd directed her to. He watched her go before attempting to pack up the rest of his things. Realizing the obvious, - that it wasn't all going to fit in his bag - he decided he had no other choice but to carry it. As he piled everything up in the center of the table, Artemis spoke again. "Uh, do you know how soon it is to curfew?" He thought for a moment. He didn't know when curfew was. It wasn't something he'd really taken into account, being part of the Marauders. "Sorry, no." He said as he shook his head. It probably was past curfew, as had no idea of the time. There was a clock somewhere in this library, but finding it was a chore in itself; it was probably hidden behind a mountainous pile of books. [Agent:2]

Artemis was glad that her hair had fallen into her face as she'd looked away, hiding the blush from the embarrassment that she felt, though she couldn't deny.... he was pretty in a way....
Artie looked over her shoulder as she walked away, "Thanks again, Remus!" Even though she'd known his name, basically from the beginning. Who didn't know the Marauders' names... except for the pudgy one, perhaps...... Though Remus had been nicer than she'd expected, even more so than was said.
She sighed, "Crap!" She returned to the bookshelf, hurriedly looking for the book where Remus had said it would be. O.... Creatures..... o, o, o, O..... Ah! Here it is! She pulled the book off the shelf, flipping through it, thankful that it didn't make any noise. Well.... I guess I'm just going to have to bring it back to the dorm with me, especially seeing as I have no clue when curfew is.
She returned to where Remus was, to see him with a large pile of books and a packed book bag. "Thanks for the help!" She paused, she was going to be going back to the Common Room anyways.... Why not help Remus with his insane pile of books. "Do you want a hand?" She indicated the books on the table.

Remus sighed again as his gaze took in the size of his little mountain in the middle of the desk. Artemis had disappeared - going to get her book, no doubt - and Remus was, once again, alone in the library.
A little while later, Artemis reappeared. Remus barely noticed her as she thanked him, he was too busy thinking of a way to get all of his books up the the Common Room. If only I had James' invisibility cloak, he thought, mentally kicking himself for giving it back to James the day before, I could cover the books with the cloak and use Mobiliarbus to take them up to Gryffindor Tower with me. Of course, magic wasn't allowed in the corridors, stupid rules.
Remus looked up as Artemis offered to help him. He smiled at her warmly. "That would be very helpful, thanks!" He split the pile of books, giving himself the bigger and heavier pile, just to be polite. [Agent:2]

((Sorry about how late this reply is!!!))
Artemis smiled back, feeling an trepidation that she might have felt around Remus. He just had that sort of calming effect it seemed, even though he himself seemed slightly agitated. Though judging by the amount of books that he was bringing back to the Common Room with him, he could have been extremely stressed for all she knew.
She shook her head, "Its no problem at all! You helped me, its only fair that I help you back. I wouldn't have found my book without you. Besides I'm going to the Common Room anyway. I mean... " She smiled, feeling slightly shy again, fighting back a bit of embarrassment over her little rambing.
She placed her book on top of the stack of books that Remus had left for her. She, then, picked them up. She wobbled for a moment, trying to hold the stack in a way that would allow her to see and be able to carry them all the way back to the Common Room without dropping them.
She smiled again, looking at Remus, then at the library doors, "Well, off we go." She walked to the door, grappling for a moment trying to figure out how to open the door with both of her hands filled with books.

(Sorry, mine was late too.) Remus smiled. "Thankyou," he repeated as Artemis took the books. She swayed slightly while adjusted the weight in her arms. Remus held out his arms in case she fell and, when he felt that her balance had returned, moved to pick up his larger pile of books.
"Well, off we go." Artemis said as Remus scooped up his books. He nodded and made his way forward, passing the girl. He headed for the door, realizing on the way that he couldn't open it with his arms full.
Reaching the door, he placed his books down on a small table, hardly big enough for a lamp, and opened the door. He turned back to see if Artemis was still following. He felt bad for letting her carry some of his books, and wondered if he should stop her and tell her he could manage on his own. [Agent:2]
